These are examples of a family custom book with images scanned and produced by Global Village Studio. Are you ready for your custom album of snapshots?
The process to get started on your book is on one hand, very simple. We will design your book for you when we receive the photographs from you. Our basic book includes 100 photographs. Sounds simple but your initial determination of the photographs you wish to have in the book may be the most difficult part!
The photos may be prints that need to be scanned into digital format. We will do that for you. Large prints work best, but we can work with every size. You also may have digital files, usually as JPEGS, from your snapshot collection or from other family and friends. We would like to receive those on a CD and clearly identified. It is also possible for us to add new portraits from our studio for your book.
In every case, the larger the file (or photograph) the better because they contain the most detail in the digital information we have work to work with. And more detail means a better quality outcome for your book.
Secondly, how do you want the photographs in your book to be arranged? Options include a chronological order, family groupings, by specific events or possibly a combination of these categories. You may also prefer other categories!
The usual book size is an 8 X10 (portrait) or 10 X 8 (landscape) size and orientation with a hard cover and professional cover jacket. Other options to be considered are more photographs, a larger size book, soft cover or image wrap – with no slip cover but with an image on the cover.
The addition of more photographs, larger sizes, new portraits and additional copies of the book can easily be added to the book. As with everything in this digital age, the hardest, most time consuming part of designing and laying out a custom photography book is in the first copy.
We know this may sound a bit daunting, but we have experience working with design and layout and are happy to talk you through your thoughts regarding your book. Beginning with the end in mind, based on your needs and imagination, will result in a memorable book which will delight you and those who see it!
